The next issue of the Corporate Watch Magazine will be on corporate control of 'social media'.
As companies like Facebook (800 million active users), Twitter (one billion tweets a week), LinkedIn (120 million registered users) and YouTube (3 billion videos viewed a day) continue to dominate, what are the implications for how we communicate, privacy, surveillance and repression? Are there any viable alternatives to these corporate platforms and how can we challenge the corporate monopolisation of this technology?
We will be addressing these and related questions in the next issue, to be published in Spring 2012. As always, we would welcome your input. If you are interested in contributing an article, commentary or case study, please get in touch by emailing us at contact[at]corporatewatch.org.
The current issue, on the housing crisis, will be out by the end of the year. Look out for it!
