Worst EU Lobbying Award 2006 - Voting Over!

Awards for the 'Worst EU Lobbying' & the 'Worst Privileged Access' received more than 30 nominations proposed by citizens and groups from around Europe; after thorough scrutinising by the organisers, the five worst cases in each category were online for public voting.

Voting has now closed with over 18,000 votes cast; check out who won from the two categories: www.worstlobby.eu

The Worst EU Lobbying Awards were organised by Corporate Europe Observatory, Friends of the Earth Europe, LobbyControl and Spinwatch.

Would You Like GM Fries With That?

It may be time to request a trowel as a present for this festive season as the folk at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) in their infinite wisdom have decided to give the go-ahead to the cultivation of genetically modified potatoes.

Biotech company BASF-Plant Science have the 'auspicious' honour of planting these potatoes at sites in Cambridgeshire and Derbyshire[1], despite massive public opposition to GM crops.
