Corporate Watch have been profiling and highlighting privatisation since 1994.
Corporate Watch's research on privatisation does not just point the finger at current and past government policy on privatising public services or promoting private finance initiatives.
For more profiles, please go to our previous company profiles. There are also updates on the blog and in the newsletter.
Please see the right hand column for downloads of reports and links to research on privatisation.
The UK government has been keen to push privatisation projects, publi-private partnerships and, mostly, poorly executed third sector - or 'third way' - solutions such as charity/voluntary provision for public services (see Steve Davies work on 'soft privatisation in employment services' for more information on this).
Corporate Watch's take on privatisation is that it is not a cure for poor public service. Currently, Corporate Watch is involved in putting together an activists' toolkit to campaign against privatisation project. This toolkit will include more profiles on companies involved in privatisation projects. It will go online September 2008, so watch this space!
